Plumber

Mississauga - Courtneypark Dr., ON

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

  • Be deeply involved in progressive, proactive maintenance routines
  • Understand current code regulations, read drawings and specifications and determine the layout of plumbing systems, water supply networks and wastewater drainage systems.
  • Install, maintain, and repair minor steam/condensate devices such as steam traps, humidifiers, safety valves, pressure gauges, thermometers, sight glasses, etc.
  • Maintain/install high-pressure piping.
  • Maintain/install instrumentation control systems.
  • Maintenance to sanitation, pneumatic, hydraulic systems, sinks, toilets, roof drains, floor drains and any drainage piping.
  • Carry out documented work requests and apply corrective action
  • Ensure all job-related operations are in compliance with GMPs, HACCP, WHMIS and Health & Safety requirements.
  • Understand and adhere to all plant Food/Health and Safety Polices.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Red Seal Certification (306A Licensed Plumber), with proven field experience (3 years or greater preferred).
  • Must be legally entitled to work for Maple Leaf Foods in Canada. 
  • Ability to execute planned and scheduled daily tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in a team-based environment.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have a full complement of personal/professional hand tools.
  • Knowledge of the Maintenance Reliability process (predictive and preventative maintenance) and predictive technologies.
  • Basic knowledge of industrial safety, food safety and environmental regulations with absolute commitment to safety.
  • Ontario G2 or G1 gas fitter license would be considered an asset.
  • Backflow Certified (OWWA) preferred - or willingness to pursue
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Sense of urgency and attention to detail.
  • Basic computer skills
  • Availability for weekend overtime as production/maintenance demands require.
  • Ability to work various shifts
  • Able to work in tight areas
  • Work at heights
  • You must be legally eligible to work and currently residing in Canada
