Reliability Leader

 The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Reliability, the Reliability Leader is responsible for implementing corporate policies and standards and establishing the Maintenance department's long-term strategy in alignment with the corporate Asset Reliability Program to meet corporate and site objectives. The Reliability Leader is the main enabler to enhance the facility’s performance and implements and manages continuous improvement and modern manufacturing principles by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in staffing, training, working practices and processes.

The Reliability Leader promotes and maintains a safe working environment through compliance with MLF’s Health and Safety Program. This includes Food Safety and Environmental compliance.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

  • Develop and apply a local Maintenance 3-year plan that incorporates both strategic and budgetary elements in alignment with the corporate Asset Reliability objectives and roadmap. This includes the use of KPI’s, annual and long-term departmental plans, resource projections and communication with peers and senior management. Coach the Maintenance staff to achieve the desired results within the budget envelop.
  • Responsible for completing the annual corporate Asset Reliability maturity assessment with key stakeholders, and for enhancing the program maturity by executing on identified actions.
  • Manage the work identification and optimization process, including the planning, scheduling, execution, and follow-up elements as well as the application of life cycle management principles, asset performance monitoring and Maintenance’s participation in supplier relationships. Ensure communication between involved parties, monitor performance and the development and management of corrective action plans.
  • Manage the work prioritization process, monitor, and audit Maintenance department performance and work request and work order generation by maintenance and non-maintenance staff.
  • Partner wish Production and Sanitation to maximize the facility’s performance by ensuring good communication for found work and for work status.
  • Manage the maintenance work planning and scheduling processes and ensure proper staffing levels and clear delineation between roles. Audit results and coach as needed.
  • Participate in the weekly planning and scheduling meetings
  • Establish work load criteria to maximize work completion and schedule compliance.
  • Accountable for post Preventive Maintenance (PM) and completed Work Order quality reviews.
  • Manage the maintenance work execution process. Establish and maintain escalation criteria for late work, ensure the presence and use of visual boards and ongoing communication exists between responsible parties.
  • Work with Engineering to identify CapEx projects. Provide guidance to ensure that all new assets are accompanied by the appropriate maintenance strategy.
  • Accountable for the department’s use of formal work identification methodologies in the development and evolution of the maintenance programs and when a significant failure occurs.
  • Establish maintenance strategy (preventive, condition-based, and predictive) equipment data infrastructure (hierarchies, bills of material, criticality, and spares) in SAP.
  • Establish/manage a process to review the existing maintenance strategy (preventive, condition-based, predictive) when the equipment or operating practices change or when the equipment does not meet performance objectives.
  • Accountable for the application of a condition monitoring and predictive technologies to meet the site's business goals and objectives.
  • Accountable for the application of the site's documented equipment life cycle process including use of lifecycle cost models.
  • Responsible for the failure management reporting, reviewing and resolution process.
  • Enable the enhancement of the facility’s performance.
  • Manage the assets performance in alignment with corporate Sustainability and Carbon Management strategy.
  • Develop, document and apply a development and succession plan for all Maintenance roles including a mentor/apprentice program.
  • Ensure that new personnel are provided on the job systems training for the role which they are hired.
  • Define and maintain roles and responsibilities for all roles in the Maintenance Department.
  • Manage performance reviews and goal setting based on the development and succession plan.
  • Lead a formal weekly meeting with Maintenance, MRO and Operations to review downtime and plan the following week's maintenance activities.
  • Oversees the facilities maintenance program including oversight of our Central Utilities Plant processes and people.
  • Manage Maintenance's role in work relations between Maintenance, Reliability, MRO and Operations, Six Sigma and Engineering.
  • Develop a Materials Management strategy designed to support the planned maintenance operations.
  • Conduct regular Materials/Inventory Management and Warehouse Management strategy sessions and manage the warehouse returns process.
  • Manage and support a continuous improvement process within the Maintenance department and in collaboration with other departments
  • Actively promote the collection and management of knowledge on the equipment health, performance and best practices within the Maintenance department and with other internal and external groups.
  • Accountable for tracking, understanding, and improving departmental KPIs.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Knowledgeable Maintenance Manager with at least 5 years of experience in a Maintenance management role applying proven Maintenance best practices in a fast pace industrial environment
  • A technical diploma is required, while an Engineering degree is preferred
  • Familiar with using a CMMS system and with applying Standard Operating Procedures in his/her work
  • Follows company policies, standards and guidelines as they apply to all activities
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, works well in a team environment, is responsible and is open to change
  • Results oriented and quality driven
