Opportunity: Maintenance Lead Hand Shift Schedule: Monday to Friday, 10:00 pm – 6:30 am Summary:
Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager and Supervisory team, the Maintenance Lead Hand is responsible for the overall maintenance duties of the plant equipment during the night shift. Emphasis is on preventative maintenance programs and facility maintenance internally and externally. This needs to be done while adhering to quality and safety legislative guidelines and the Maple Leaf Values.

Health & Safety/Food Safety/HACCP/Shift:
Maintain safe and clean work environment by educating and directing maintenance employees on the use of equipment and resources while maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
Ensuring Standard Operating Procedures, Safety Guidelines, and all requirements within the framework of the HACCP Food safety program are being followed.
Engage and understand daily maintenance operations while anticipating and troubleshooting equipment issues.
Complete maintenance plan by assisting the Maintenance Supervisor in scheduling and assigning employees, establishing priorities, revising schedules, and resolving problems.
Carries out the preventative maintenance program on all equipment to ensure that down time is minimized.
Provides the essential repairs and maintenance duties on all other equipment and where necessary.
Assist the Maintenance Supervisor for the care and maintenance of the buildings and the outside property.
Helps the Maintenance Supervisor to maintain an adequate inventory of parts and supplies to maintain the building and equipment by periodically reviewing stock levels with direction of the MRO Supervisor.
Complete appropriate documentation accurately and timely.
Support Management by promoting and encouraging positive employee relations through daily interactions, feedback and communication with employees.
Provide feedback to the Maintenance Manager on maintenance performance, product and/or personnel issues.
Train new or existing maintenance staff on specific job skills as they relate to their specific area or task.
Inform alternate maintenance shift of any relevant maintenance information.
Fill in, when necessary to cover off the Maintenance Supervisor for short absences.
Available to carry out special assignments that are assigned.
Meet with Maintenance Supervisor for daily directions.
Ensuring that all production and sanitation equipment are in operational condition before start-up or end of shift.
Ensuring that all equipment is operating within manufactures specifications.
Performs routine checks of production and sanitation equipment throughout the shift to ensure all processes are delivering specifications and communicate any deviations with Maintenance Supervisor.
Ensuring effective communications between Hourly staff and Maintenance Supervisor.
Operational Continuous Improvement:
Help to achieve Continuous Improvement in processes to implement cost reductions while maintaining quality.
Strive to continuously improve performance: employee relations, yields, labour results, equipment, sanitation, personal and employee job knowledge, etc.
Participate and support in Continuous Improvement projects and business plan.
Possesses a valid Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Trade Certification/ Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Red Seal Endorsement
3-5 years of experience working in an industrial setting; working in manufacturing or food processing is an asset.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and SAP.
Displays good leadership skills/people skills.
Clear writing/reading English.
Requires initiative and effective communication skills to lead and motivate.
Ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
Willing to learn and continuously improve and willingness to embrace change.
Previous experience working with SOP’s and GMP’s is an asset.
First aid/CPR is an asset.
Mechanical abilities and trouble shooting skills are required.
