Full - Time Inovo Operator
Location: Hanover, ON
Now is a very exciting time to join the Maple Leaf family. Currently, the Hanover Hatchery has the ability to hatch approximately 900,000 chicks per week. Our work includes everything from receiving eggs from our farms to distributing chicks to many growers across the province.
Position Summary:
Transferring eggs from incubators to the inovo machine (which vaccinates the chick while its still in the egg) after going through the machine they are transferred into hatch rooms.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Set up of inovo equipment
- Pulling incubator buggies into inovo room
- Removing eggs from incubator buggies to place into inovo equipment
- Operating inovo equipment to vaccinate and transfer eggs
- Wash buggies and egg flats
- Removing and stacking full hatch trays
- Loading hatch tray stacks into hatchers
- Sanitation of inovo equipment
- Sanitation of work area
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices
- Must understand and follow all HACCP/Biosecurity/Animal Welfare procedures
- Must be able to work varying and flexible hours until job complete (approximate hours Monday and Tuesday – 2:00 p.m. or 3:00 p.m. for approximately 10 hours; Friday and Saturday - 8:00 a.m. or 9:00 a.m. for approximately 10 hours)
- Proven ability in current position, including excellent attendance record
- Must be committed to working as a team or individually
- Must be able to work in small groups with minimal supervision
- Proven organizational and time management skills
- Problem solving abilities
- Must be capable of standing for long periods
- Must be able to move full setter racks of eggs
- Must be able to lift 40 – 50 lbs. repetitively overhead
- Must be able to work in a wet/humid environment
- Proven ability to follow SOP’s and schedules
- Must be available to work Statutory Holidays
