A snapshot of some of the exciting things you will lead and do: 

  • Responsible for the monitoring and reporting of our shipments in transit and on-time delivery to customers.
  • Responsible for the creation of cost effective daily route plan that must be focused on cost effectiveness and customer (both internal and external) satisfaction in a very fast-paced make-to-order environment.
  • The role will be responsible for communicating and directing, with various carriers, the “Daily Route Plan” to ensure carriers are notified of pick up times, PO #’s and delivery appointments.
  • This role must be in constant communication with the Sales, Production Planning, Customer Supply Chain and the manufacturing Shipping departments throughout the day to ensure that product availability supports the “Daily Route Plan”.
  • Responsible for working with carriers to ensure delivery routes exist to help deliver the most cost effective “Daily Route Plans”.
  • The role will assist the Dispatch and Planning Supervisor with Period End Variance Reporting.
  • Responsible for generating reports and analysis to support continuous improvement and identify ongoing cost-saving opportunities.
  • This position must assist with both customer and carrier claims.
  • This role will provide vacation coverage for to our Western Transportation team as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you will bring:

  • Three years experience in a Distribution / Logistics / Transportation discipline and / or in possession of and / or working towards a diploma / degree in a related discipline (Business Administration, Distribution & Logistics, PLOG )
  • Exceptional communicator and decision-maker, capable of successfully taking on several tasks at once. This position requires an eye for detail and a willingness to exercise flexibility with short notice.
  • Geographic knowledge and understanding.
  • Functional in SAP and adaptable to new systems and processes.
  • General knowledge of Word / Excel/ Outlook/ Map Point. Access DB is an asset.
  • Must attain capability of operating from a Six Sigma perspective; particularly as to identifying and involving stakeholders.
