A snap shot of some of the exciting things you will lead and do:

  • Reception – managing phone calls and messages; personal and plant line, open gate, visitor registration
  • Mailroom – sending and receiving Canada Post, USP and Action Express
  • Attendance log – tracking daily call-ins
  • First point of contact for HR inquiries
  • Recruitment and Selection (post job advertisement, review application, scheduling and conducting interviews, completing reference checks, develop offer letters, selecting incumbent for the position, while working collaboratively with the hiring manager)
  • Orientation (preparation of new hire packages, collaborating with QA and OH&S for orientation booking). Facilitate HR portion
  • New hire setup (timely and accurate preparation of WIN-PAK time cards, entering documented in SAP and Kronos in a timely manner)
  • Exit Interviews – hourly employees
  • Tracking and processing (retirements, pension enrollment, benefit enrollment, student verification, work permits/SIN, wage progressions, PCF reimbursements, boot, tool and kneepad reimbursements, personal data changes, organizational reassignments/transfers, new WIN-PAK cards, washroom breaks, terminations)
  • Ensures adherence to the collective agreement and all applicable legislation regarding hourly employees
  • Maintenance of employee files
  • Communicate with front line supervisors and/or department managers daily as required
  • Responds to employee inquires, in areas of benefits, vacations, LOAs, wage increases and other HR processes
  • Respond to all employee concerns and take steps to resolve issues
  • Growth Opportunity - Back up support for the HR Advisor, including:
  • Involvement in coaching and progressive disciplinary process (Creating summaries, advising of policies, administering disciplinary action)
  • Investigating attendance concerns and providing advice to supervisors to ensure consistent application of policy
  • Involvement in first level labour relations (taking statement, creating summaries, providing support to HR Advisor and Manager as needed)
  • Co-ordinate local social events (Employee Appreciation BBQ, Holiday Parties, Employee/Family Events)
  • Provide Human Resources presence to hourly employees
  • Assistance to Human Resources Advisor and Human Resources Manager as required

What you will bring:

  • The successful candidate will be results-oriented, thrive in a fast paced, demanding environment, and have the ability to develop positive working relationships with all employees. Candidates must have:

  • Human Resources Diploma/Certificate
  • Experience and/or working knowledge of Human Resource practices
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with a high level of accuracy
  • Proficient in Microsoft office software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Capability to take initiative and problem solve
  • Ability to work well in a diverse and dynamic environment
  • Work with minimal supervision and be an active team member
  • Candidates applying must be comfortable working a weekly rotating shift - hours include 8:00am – 4:00pm and 10:00am - 6:00pm
