The Opportunity

It is an exciting time at Maple Leaf Foods as we work to achieve the strategic blueprint to become the most sustainable protein company on earth. A key enabler to our continued growth and success is the talent strategy and agenda. In this role you will be responsible for developing the world-class end to end recruitment strategy that will align with the over arching goals of the company, guide the business in finding and attracting best-in-class talent. Reporting to the Vice President of Leadership, the Director of Talent Attraction and Employment Branding is a key member of the Leaf Leadership and Learning Leadership team at Maple Leaf Foods.
 
As the Director, Talent Attraction and Employment Branding you will be responsible for creating and implementing strategic direction and leadership on best-in-class hiring processes and key talent attraction initiatives across Maple Leaf Foods. You will mentor and lead a team of both tenured and new recruiters to continually achieve objectives and goals while building bench strength and stability within the recruiting function. You will be a self starter and a result driven individual and have an enthusiastic approach in your role as a leader. You have the experience and ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders across the organization and influence change. Possessing a strong passion and understanding of the core competencies to be an effective leader, you will ensure that key initiatives are being delivered and deadlines are met. The ability to connect the value and impact of hiring top talent to Maple Leaf Foods is paramount, this role presents an opportunity to take the talent acquisition program to the next level!

A snapshot of some of the exciting things you will lead and do:

  • Design and implement large-scale and comprehensive end-to-end recruitment strategy for Maple Leaf Foods
  • Support large-scale Diversity and Inclusion cultural change management initiatives as they relate to talent attraction
  • Work closely and collaborate with cross functional groups such as Human Resources, Diversity and Inclusion, Operations and Communications to ensure company diversity initiatives and goals are being met
  • Asses current candidate tracking system to ensure appropriateness and/or recommend alternative technology that would streamline talent attraction function
  • In a collaborate manner, build relationships with key stakeholders and HR business partners across the organization to consult and build effective hiring strategies to ensure Maple Leaf Foods continues to hire the best talent on the market
  • Working closely with hiring managers to understand the needs of the business as it pertains to talent attraction, analyze and provide insight on key metrics to measure effectiveness, showcase accomplishments, identify gaps and offer suggestions on continuous improvement in all items related to Talent Attraction & Employment Branding
  • Develop initiatives that continue to drive a positive employer branding that showcase Maple Leaf Foods as an employer of choice 
  • Lead, coach and mentor a team of talent attraction specialist who are responsible of filling 500+ positions annually  
  • Partner with your team to drive new and innovative recruitment initiatives for the business
  • Maintain a wide professional network to keep current on best-in-class practices in candidate sourcing, recruitment strategies and technology
  • Manage all recruitment activities for senior level positions including direct head hunting, first round interviews, presenting candidates and booking hiring manager interviews
  • Manage 3rd party vendor contracts and participate in vendor negotiations
  • Prepare and administer the Talent Attraction department budget through effective control to ensure that spend is within budget
  • Oversee and manage company wide relocation program

What you will bring:

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Commerce or Business administration combined with several years of directly related work experience
  • 5+ years of experience leading a large recruitment team
  • Proven ability in leading large-scale complex projects
  • Specialized knowledge and proven experience with Employment Branding and strategy development
  • Strong knowledge base of high-volume corporate recruitment, direct head-hunting strategies and recruitment trends
  • Proven track record of influencing and gaining credibility with all levels across an organization
  • Self-starter with a strong bias for action and follow through
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities at once while meeting deadlines
  • Strong technical competencies with demonstrated proficiency in MS tools
