Reporting to the Vice President of Labour and Human Resources, the Operational HR Manager oversees Human Resources activities at multiple manufacturing locations. The incumbent partners closely with the VP Operations to set and implement a manufacturing people strategy, support implementation of cross-company initiatives while providing ongoing coaching and support to the HR Managers in the network of plants. The Operational Human Resources Manager has the direct accountability for ensuring that the Human Resources planning and results (Performance Management, Recruitment, Recognition, Training and Development, Engagement and Communication) are aligned to meet the Plant and MLF operations and business needs. While not operating directly at the plant, this leader will provide key support on all HR and Labor related activities and works closely with the Plant level HR Business Partner, Site Lead and VP of Operations.

A snapshot of some of the exciting things you will lead and do:
- Oversee Human Resources and Employee Relations activities within the plants including ensuring effective delivery of human resources, compliance with legislative requirements, Collective Agreement and Company policies, and daily coaching on HR, employee and labour relations issues.
- Coach and provide counsel to HR Managers at the different plant locations, with the goal to support plant operations, drive ownership for business results through people related activities, and develop strong HR professionals
- Champion the implementation of MLF Corporate initiatives (compensation, performance and development, pension and benefits, system upgrades, HR services)
- Support development of annual human resources plan for each facility that align to the plant’s business goals, and monitor follow through on those identified initiatives
- Share best practices across the plant network and promote standardization of core HR procedures.
- Facilitate execution of plant operations and corporate programs (e.g. succession planning, orientation, PAD and DAP planning etc.).
- Lead and provide counsel on special projects as requested.

What you will bring:
- Brings a diverse perspective that complements the skills, strengths and opportunities of the team
- 8+ years working experience in Human Resources and Labour Relations
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
- Experience working in a unionized and/or manufacturing environment is an asset
- A well-developed HR Professional with a solid Generalist and Change Management background
- A proven track record of proactively managing the Labour/Management relationship.
- Passionate about coaching, mentoring and developing people to achieve positions of greater responsibility.
- Strong business and operational acumen particularly within manufacturing and/or food processing.
- Demonstrated initiative, drive and leadership; excellent communication skills.
- Results orientated, able to work as part of a functional team; must be an exceptional fit with our Maple Leaf Leadership Edge Core Values. Excellent planning and organizational skills, possess the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong problem-solving skills, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to make procedural decisions and judgments involving sensitive and confidential issues under stressful conditions.
