Finance Analyst - Reporting (Contract)

London, ON

 The Opportunity:

The Finance Analyst position assists in coordinating the financial reporting and analysis activities in the London Poultry operation.  This position works closely with operations to accurately reflect the results, ensure internal controls are in place and monitored, and provide finance expertise and support.

Base Salary:   $58,000 – $87,000 CAD base pay annually

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

  • Report and provide explanations for financial results and forecasts for the plant operations.
  • Provide overhead management support to assigned Budget Manager and Finance Manager.
  • Data Analysis.  Understand cost driving activities and provide the necessary analytics as required.
  • Play a key role in the period end close process, coordinating with various departments to gather the necessary information, whilst ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts relating to manufacturing and ensure controls are in place, and items are accounted for.
  • Collaborate with Finance Manager on special projects as assigned.
  • Support the Quarterly C3 Testing and Remediation for Inventory Controls – pulling samples and testing controls.
  • Support budget and forecast with emphasis on cost control and zero-based budgeting. Prepare workbooks and compile year to date actuals.
  • Analyze and report on weekly purchase price variances impacting packaging and ingredients
  • Support weekly reporting cycles by preparing the required inputs on a timely manner. The inputs include the necessary financial models, as well as underling data for various Power BI and MS Excel based dashboards.
  • Reconcile Carlisle production with SAP, collaborate with operations and IS to resolve any issues
  • Be active and participate in continuous improvement initiatives

What You’ll Bring:

  • 1-2 years Finance background.
  • Completed bachelor’s degree – ideally with specialization in business finance or accounting. 
  • Technology savvy individual with excellent aptitude for working in information systems modeling and analyzing data
  • Solid MS Excel Knowledge: Including but not limited to use of Power Query and essential advanced functions
  • Demonstrated experience in cost accounting, budgeting, and internal controls
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to build relationships with business partners and team
  • Superb sense of urgency, attention to detail, organizational & problem-solving skills
  • A proactive self-starter with confidence and curiosity to take initiative, ask questions and improve processes
  • Prior experience in food manufacturing and SAP is preferred
