The incumbent will be responsible for providing QA leadership to production, QA Techs, QC’s, Coordinator and CVS support for CFIA inspectors.
A snapshot of some of the exciting things you will lead and do:
Supervises, directs and trains Quality Assurance Technicians and QC’s, including review of work quality, Health and Safety, staffing, and discipline
Production Supervisor, Food Safety and Quality Assurance support
Support the FSQA department in maintaining and updating Food Safety and Quality Management System and procedures as required
Coordinate/manage/provide support on various Food Safety and Quality projects and initiatives – HACCP, BRC, EMP, as well as day to day tasks required by the QA Dept
Directs and coaches Quality Assurance Technicians in monitoring production, to prevent and resolve any quality issues
Assists with employee training, new employee orientation and employee coaching for all Food Safety/GMP and HACCP requirements
Promotes a positive and professional relationship with cross-functional team members, 3rd party auditors and regulatory bodies
Conducts in house audits as required
Investigate and report on food safety investigations in collaboration with other QA team members
Recognize, support and commit to the Food Safety promise and facility Mission statement
Ordering / Receiving stock for the QA Department along with FSQA Coordinators as required
Responding to consumer/customer complains
Other FSQA responsibilities as required

What you will bring:
The successful candidate will be results-oriented, thrive in a fast paced, demanding environment, and have the ability to develop positive working relationships with all employees. Candidates must have:
Strong knowledge of HACCP and Food Safety
Post-secondary training in Quality Assurance or other scientific training
Experience in the food industry, preferably the meat industry
Ability to multi-task and maintain focus in a fast-paced production environment
Superior communication, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
A very good working knowledge of MS Office programs and SAP.
Ability to motivate and work well with hourly paid and salaried employees.
Ability to make informed decisions in a timely manner
