Project Specialist – Winnipeg (16 Month Contract)
Project Specialist responsibilities include working closely with our Project Manager and Construction Manager to compile comprehensive contract documents, facilitate and inspect technical installations and oversee the work of contractors. You will perform various coordinating tasks, like maintaining project documentation, schedule and budget management. You will perform numerous field supervision tasks, coordinating and validating the Work of the Contractor and Trades. To succeed in this role, you should have excellent time management and communication skills, as you’ll collaborate with clients and internal teams to deliver results on deadlines.
A snap shot of some of the exciting things you will lead and do:
Review and understand the project scope, from review of Drawings, specifications, Change Management documentation, Project Instructions and schedules;
Understand and assist in planning and executing work procedures;
Work with operations to help coordinate various phases of construction to prevent delays;
Review design options to understand the project cost, quality and schedule impacts;
Attend contractor construction and planning meetings;
Support the Project Manager on all reporting;
Assist with Instructions and Change Management to ensure work is properly completed;
Compile communication and reconciliation of field data;
Assist with all the necessary closeout documentation such as inspection sign off, warranty certificates, etc.;

What you will bring:
Minimum 1 year-experience in the commercial or industrial construction industry within the coordination/ administration of projects
Engineering Degree or Engineering and Construction Technology Diploma
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and other related systems
Basic Scheduling skills
Basic Estimating knowledge
Familiar with Basic Structure, Envelope, Mechanical, Electrical installations
Familiar with Food Industry or Process Equipment
Valid Driver’s License and available transportation
Ability to work within CFIA environment
Use of Personal Protection Equipment will be required (e.g. hard-hat, safety boots, etc.).
Hazards associated with the construction industry.
Regularly works near moving mechanical parts, machinery and in outside conditions.
Must have mobility to move throughout a project site including rough terrain, climbing ladders, navigating above or under obstacles.
May be exposed to loud noise.
Working also within a CFIA environment.
