The Student is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing racks, chick boxes, dollies, and egg trays to support daily hatchery operations. This position supports operational standards procedures outlined in the CFIA Hatchery Preventive Control Plan and the NFACC Code of Practice while maintaining high standards of animal welfare.

The Student is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing racks, chick boxes, dollies, and egg trays to support daily hatchery operations. This position supports operational standards procedures outlined in the CFIA Hatchery Preventive Control Plan and the NFACC Code of Practice while maintaining high standards of animal welfare.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize dirty farm chick boxes and dollies for reuse on the next production day, following proper procedures to prevent cross-contamination.
- Clean and sanitize egg trays in accordance with Canadian Hatching Egg Quality Program (CHEQ) requirements.
- Clean and sanitize the Rack Washer Room, Box Washer and Egg Room and equipment using the four-step sanitation protocol for the hatchery and conduct daily pre-operational checks and basic maintenance of box wash equipment
- Set up and operate the box washer and egg tray washer according to standard operating procedures.
- Safely mix, dispense, and apply cleaning and disinfecting chemicals at recommended concentrations.
- Follow Maple Leaf Foods AgOps Biosecurity Policy and Personal Hygiene Program.
- $20.90 - $21.90 per hour (based on progression)
- The role requires attention to detail, safe handling practices, adherence to SOPs and health & safety protocols
- Ability to work flexible hours until tasks are completed
- Physically capable of standing for long periods, lifting up to 40 lbs repetitively. Must be comfortable working in conditions that may involve strong odours, noise, wet surfaces and humidity.
- Must adhere to PCP, WHIMS and CFIA standards
- No formal education required; on-the-job training provided
