The Opportunity:
As a member of the Foodservice commercial team, the Finance Manager will work closely with Foodservice Sales and Marketing groups, providing analytical support to annual strategic plans and new business opportunities. It will be the responsibility of the Finance Manager to support the broader team with the necessary analysis and business acumen required to make optimal business decisions.
The position requires a highly motivated individual with the ability to self-start and work independently, and that can provide top-quality, value-added analysis and insight. The successful candidate must also have strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to work and communicate with members from all levels of the organization, from field sales up through the SVP level

Compensation: $96,000 - $141,000 CAD base pay annually plus annual short-term incentive
The above compensation reflects the target compensation for the position at the time of posting. The base salary offered may vary based on a variety of factors including skills, experience, education, training, job- related knowledge, and other organizational requirements. For part-time roles, salaries are adjusted according to scheduled hours. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible to participate in Maple Leaf’s annual short-term incentive plan.
Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:
Lead the development of annual financial budget for Foodservice business
- Work with cross-functional team to develop annual financial budget for the Foodservice organization. Track, understand, and explain variances against the plan on an ongoing basis. Make recommendations for improving results as required.
- Prepare and issue weekly / monthly financial reporting and analysis to the broader team.
- Ensure financial performance is being properly reflected in SAP by regularly reviewing pricing/trade, distribution, and cost of product rates being assigned to business.
Forecast Foodservice business profitability
- Lead monthly update of rolling 90-day and full-year financial forecasts. Ensure understanding of these forecasts’ performance vs. both budget and prior-year.
Profit & loss statement understanding
- Develop knowledge of pricing/trade, cost of product, and distribution costs by customer and category, and have an understanding of the impact of volume / mix changes on the business. Use this understanding to identify areas where profitability can be improved. Be able to teach cross-functional team the meaning and impact of these variances.
Financial analysis
- Analyze financial performance of new business opportunities.
- Support special projects/initiatives (price increases, changes to trade programs with customers, etc.) as required.
What You’ll Bring:
- Post-secondary degree in Accounting or Business required
- Accounting designation or working towards designation preferred
- Five years of value add analytical experience (previous experience supporting sales and marketing a must)
- Must strongly demonstrate our Maple Leaf Leadership values
- Must possess strong business acumen and critical thinking
- Must have excellent analysis skills and be a detail-oriented person
- Superior computer skills on Microsoft Excel
- SAP experience an asset
- Excellent planning and organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated personal leadership
