IS Consultant, QA and Release Management

Mississauga - Financial Dr., ON

 The Opportunity:

As an IS Consultant, QA and Release Management, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our systems and integrations, with the primary focus on SAP. Reporting directly to the Director, Development and Integration, you will bridge technical and functional teams, contributing to the delivery of effective IT solutions, with precision and integrity. This role involves reviewing and analyzing project requirements, developing test strategies, and collaborating across teams to support end-to-end testing. You will also be responsible for integrating QA processes into development lifecycles and occasionally leading small projects or assisting with resource planning.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

Your typical day will involve a mix of release management, quality assurance, and test management tasks. You will also support the execution or release cutovers as well as contribute to audit compliance by designing processes, documentation and ensuring adherence. Collaboration with functional and technical teams, communication, documentation, and continuous improvement of QA processes are key aspects of this role.

Release Management
  • Manage the weekly transport list for production and project releases.
  • Lead the preparation and facilitation of CAB/RAB (Change/Release Advisory Board) processes.
  • Coordinate go-lives and manage emergency transport tracking with minimal disruption to operations.
Quality Assurance and Testing
  • Execute the enterprise QA strategy for SAP and non-SAP systems in alignment with business goals and IT governance.
  • Manage and contribute to test planning, execution, and reporting for upgrades, support packs, disaster recovery testing, weekly transports, and monthly maintenance windows.
  • Coordinate performance testing efforts and ensure effective test data management.
  • Utilize risk-based analysis and tools to perform change impact assessment, optimize test coverage, and minimize regression risk.
Compliance
  • Ensure adherence to SOX and internal/external audit standards.
  • Support audit readiness by maintaining documentation, regression scripts, and other evidence.
  • Deliver timely input for audit reporting and compliance checklists.
Cross-functional Engagement and Vendor Management
  • Collaborate across functional and technical teams to support SIT and UAT efforts.
  • Maintain readiness of testing environments (e.g. post-refresh validations).
  • Manage relationships and performance metrics for external QA vendors and testing partners.
Position Outcomes
  • Reduced defect leakage (% of issues identified post-production).
  • Test cycles executed on time with successful completion.
  • 100% adherence to SOX and audit compliance standards.
  • Measurable reduction in emergency changes and unplanned production impacts.
  • Implementation of QA process improvements with documented value delivery.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in SAP ecosystems.
  • 5+ years of experience in IT Change/Release and QA Management in SAP-centric environments.
  • Familiarity with SAP core modules and landscape architecture.
  • Expertise in SAP Transport Management (STMS/CTS) including cross-client configurations.
  • Hands-on experience with automated, risk-based testing and tools such as Tricentis LiveCompare and LoadRunner.
  • Strong knowledge of ITIL, SDLC, and DevOps practices.
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement, and organizational skills.
  • A passion for detail, precision, innovation, and continuous improvement.
