The Opportunity:
The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the preventative maintenance and repair of plant equipment to ensure uninterrupted day to day operations. Also, the individual is required to demonstrate the leadership to provide a safe operating environment by directing installation, maintenance and repair of machines, tools, equipment and utility systems.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:
- Supervises the work of mechanics and electricians with a view to ensuring the good working order of production/warehouse equipment
- Makes periodic inspections of equipment and systems to observe operating condition and need for repair or adjustment
- Plans and schedules routine and preventive maintenance of equipment
- Supervises repairs/projects carried out by Contractors and ensures the quality of their work and their adherence to deadlines through rigorous follow-ups
- Plans and controls expenditures in accordance with the operating budget of the department
- Ensures that the plant is maximizing its production efficiency
- Enforces the company's current policies and procedures and the occupational health and safety program, in accordance with all applicable legislation and regulations
- Recognize, support and commit to the facility food safety and quality assurance promise
- Comfortable assuming the responsibly of the Maintenance Manager in the event of an absence (vacation coverage, illness, etc.) which would include;
- Manage, motivate and provide direct leadership to staff and continually liaise with Plant Engineering department for the purpose of maintaining plant, equipment and service functions.
- Set priorities and expectations for the Maintenance Inventory Administrator and Maintenance Purchaser/Planner and coordinate with the Chief Engineer to ensure effective utilization of resources in alignment with all relevant codes and statutes
- Execute a Preventative Maintenance Program
- Recognize, support and commit to the Food Safety promise and facility Mission statement
- Actively contribute to the successful management of the plant’s processes and employees by offering support, feedback and counsel to employees in all departments.
- Operate within the guidelines of the Manufacturing Chapters.
What You’ll Bring:
The successful candidate will be results-oriented, thrive in a fast paced, demanding environment, and have the ability to develop positive working relationships with all employees. Candidates must have:
- College diploma in electro-mechanics or a bachelor's degree in engineering; a licensed millwright / electrician will also be considered
- 3-5 years' experience in a similar position, preferably in a unionized environment
- Experience with Process Improvement Methodologies (Six Sigma, TPM, etc.)
- Experience driving Preventative Maintenance Systems
- Willingness and flexible to work in shift as scheduled when required
- Working knowledge of computer software and computerized maintenance systems
- Excellent planning, analytical and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal, communication, leadership skills and the ability to work in a team
- Knowledge of PLC systems with ability to troubleshoot problems preferred
- Experience in a Food Processing or Manufacturing environment would be considered an asset
