Position Summary:


Reporting to the Senior Manager, Feed Operations & Distribution, the Feed Mill Manager will oversee the entire production & delivery process, ensuring safety, quality and efficiency. They will collaborate with various departments, such as Logistics, Procurement and Nutrition to develop and implement strategies that optimize operations. This role involves managing budgets, monitoring production, maintenance & delivery costs and ensuring cost effectiveness. The Feed Mill Manager also ensures compliance with Feed regulations and Health, Safety & Environment programs. They will monitor and analyse KPI’s to identify and implement improvements to enhance productivity and reduce cost. This role requires hands on management of a facility with the current scheduled operations being 5 days per week, 24 hours per day.

A snapshot of some of the exciting things you will do:
  • Manage daily activities of the mill across all production shifts.
  • Lead, recruit and develop a high performing and engaged team of hourly and salaried employees.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve productivity, efficiency, and reduce operational costs.
  • Ensure that operational activities remain on time, within quality standards and within budget.
  • Troubleshoot operational activities, handle unexpected production delays and develop contingency plans.
  • Maintain a strong presence in the production area and be available to address issues outside of regular hours.
  • Oversee Capital projects and ensure effective Preventative Maintenance programs are maintained.
  • Act as a resource and aid the Senior Manager with respect to operational and financial information, issues and reports.
  • Model the Maple Leaf Values by fostering a positive work environment and promoting teamwork, respect and kindness.
  • Maintain the highest standards of facility safety, sanitation and repair for employees, suppliers, customers, vendors and business partners.

What you will bring:

  • Post-secondary education in one of the following disciplines: Food Science, Business, Agriculture or Operations Management
  • 5 - 7 years of supervisory or management experience, preferably in a feed, food or grain production environment
  • Strong understanding of feed/food facility operations with an emphasis on equipment/machinery operations and maintenance
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Experience with SAP an asset
  • Class 5 Power Engineering Certificate considered an asset
