The Opportunity:
The implementation of SAP QM (Quality Management) has provided the business with an essential tool to support the Maple Leaf Foods Quality Strategy. SAP QM is used for the management of non-conformances, in-process and product quality monitoring, and is an integral part of managing product quality and food safety holds.
As a member of Food Safety & Quality Systems team, the FSQA Manager, SAP QM will lead and provide support for the use of the QM system through data maintenance, metrics development, ongoing analysis and continuous improvement activities. As part of the FSQA Systems team, the FSQA Manager, SAP QM will also understand business processes and support system users in all quality and food safety related business processes. The role requires skills for effective performance and leadership in both team and independent work environments, within the framework of the Maple Leaf Leadership Values.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:
The FSQA Manager, SAP QM will be responsible for set up and management of all Quality Management (QM) checks in SAP for new and existing products, ingredients and packaging, and maintaining the accuracy of the data in the system.
In addition, the manager will be required to:
- Deploy and oversee loading of QM Checks to support the rollout of FSQMS (Food Safety and Quality Management System)
- Manage/Complete ECRs
- Monitor the use of the QM system including analysis of QM data in SAP, monitoring of KPIs and take corrective actions as appropriate to ensure system and data integrity
- Oversee reporting including:
- Weekly Inspection Lot Conformance Report
- Monthly Supplier Non-Conformance Report
- QN Insights (Power BI)
- Other reports as required
- Lead the QM Key User network and support RD Key User network
- Train and Coach business users on proper processes and SAP system use
- Create training documents/cheat sheets/manuals
- Support development of new IS solutions for FSQA as a Subject Matter Expert
- Troubleshoot existing QM processes and take corrective actions as needed
- Lead rollout of Path to Paperless applications, including on-site support to users
What You’ll Bring:
- Experience with SAP, SAP Recipe Development and SAP Quality Management
- Excellent computer skills including advanced MS Excel, Power Platform applications
- Analytical, process thinker with great attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication upwards to Director and VP levels
- Flexible, open-minded, keen to learn details of relevant business processes
- Creative, organized and self-motivated
- Continuous improvement focus, demonstrated knowledge and use of Six Sigma tools/methodology is an asset
- University degree, preferably in Science or Engineering
- 5+ years of experience with food manufacturing processes and good understanding of quality and food safety principles
- Demonstrated ability for influential leadership and project management
- Ability to travel to plants within the MLF network as required
