The Opportunity:
The Maple Leaf Foods (MLF) Procurement is responsible for the Strategic Sourcing of goods and services across the organization. The team is focused on generating value for the business, lowering organizational risk and providing excellent stakeholder support.
As the Senior Analyst, Sourcing - Pork reporting to the Sourcing Manager – Pork, you will collaborate with a variety of stakeholders including supply planning, production planning, warehousing, transportation, finance, marketing, and operations to ensure executional excellence of product aligning to our service requirements. You will be responsible for executing the procurement strategy and identifying new value-add initiatives to support the organization. You will provide procurement expertise and continuous improvement through data driven recommendations. This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic and evolving team as we expand sourcing support to increase company spend under management and deliver a value-driven, results oriented service to our internal and external stakeholders. The Procurement team uses industry leading sourcing processes and mature e-procurement tools to deliver significant value for the company. The successful candidate can expect to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment and have immediate opportunities to lead challenging strategic procurement initiatives.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to create and implement procurement governance mythologies
- Fulfills pork procurement strategies and reconciles against plans to ensure daily accuracy.
- Manage the business relationship with key suppliers through supporting activities including ordering, communication of demand/volume/ delivery time changes, issue resolution, sharing end-user feedback, and follow up on backorders to ensure executional excellence
- Provide leadership and expertise in a variety of areas including continuous improvement, cost management, procurement strategies, supplier performance, inventory management consistently displaying a strong drive, commitment to plan and to quality
- Lead daily reconciliation where required by working with the supplier, plant scheduler and the LCF planner to maximize organization agility by balancing facility needs with incoming raw materials
- Work closely with their manager to develop sourcing capabilities within the pork planning complex to enable backup coverage of core processes
- Drives contract execution and governance with supplier partners and internal stakeholders
- Creates partnerships with other functional and business areas, collaborating with project teams to execute procurement governance initiatives including internal audit and finance.
- Drives analytics supporting on-going cost reduction projects in collaboration with Sourcing team
- Seeks to continuously develop Procurement and Supply Chain expertise to improve delivery of goods and services while actively promoting the collection of knowledge and pursuit of best practices within the department. This includes creation and enhancement of SOP’s to ensure business continuity.
- Works collaboratively with stakeholders to drive a growth mindset by increased spend visibility and compliance to contracts
- Work closely with plant receiving and finance teams to expedite receiving and AP processes
What You’ll Bring:
- Post-secondary education, preferably in Business, Supply Chain or relevant disciplines
- A strong track record of results demonstrated during +5 years of experience in Procurement, material management or related discipline
- Superior analytical skills – able to draw insights and form recommendations
- Regular demonstration of emotional intelligence and empathy; leveraging peer’s perspectives and experiences to drive engagement and results
- Highly detail oriented with a focus on executional excellence
- Engaged, collaborative team player within a diverse workforce
- Team player with strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
- Well organized; able to balance multiple competing priorities
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Experience working in an SAP environment is an asset
