Sr. Finance Analyst

London, ON

 The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Sr. Finance Analyst provides financial leadership, support and analysis to the finance and plant management teams. The role requires that the incumbent work closely with plant management to identify opportunities to improve results and controls within the plant.  This position is responsible to execute standard control processes on assets and ensure accuracy of all plant financial reporting.

The new London facility will be one of the most technologically advanced poultry-processing facilities in the world with leading-edge health and safety, food safety, environmental, and animal welfare processes and technologies. Building a world class facility that will withstand the test of time requires the support of individuals committed to delivering winning results through the establishment of a high-performance, people centric culture. The new 640,000 square foot facility will call London, ON home and will employ over 1,600 employees as we ramp up operations over the next few years.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

  • Consistent with our leadership values, act as a champion for our culture by participating in the development and execution of a positive and productive environment focused on the needs of our people.
  • Ensure all company financial policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Provide timely and accurate daily and weekly cost reporting to the plant management team.
  • Investigate daily variances, analyze production trends, and provide explanations to management.
  • Provide accurate weekly / monthly forecasts for overall plant results in a timely manner.
  • Lead period-end financial activities.  Ensure adherence to tight month-end schedule, prepare closing journal entries and complete account reconciliations.
  • Interpret financial results.
  • Identify, recommend, and support cost improvement opportunities.
  • Support tracking of cost savings for capital projects.
  • Perform periodic analysis of overhead spending and provide management with the information required to make future spending decisions.
  • Work with the plant team to ensure that financial documents provide pertinent analysis and sufficient justification to support capital expenditures.
  • Support the overall budget process for the plant.  Work with functional managers to ensure budget submission is complete, accurate and on time.
  • On site responsibility to ensure accounting procedures adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and approved corporate policies.
  • On site C3 custodian to ensure critical inventory and purchasing procedures are in control, and responsible for Quarterly Self-Test submissions.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to non-finance managers regarding issues of financial control and compliance.
  • Support Production Management and Material Control with regular inventory cycle count review and perform re-counts and random verification checking when required / applicable.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Post-Secondary Education in Accounting or Business required
  • 2+ years of progressive manufacturing costing experience in an ERP environment (SAP preferred)
  • Accounting Designation is required or actively working towards CPA.
  • Must have excellent systems skills and be proficient Excel 
  • Demonstrated personal leadership
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to present financial information to non-financial functions.
