Procurement & Planning Analyst

 The Opportunity:

The Procurement & Planning Analyst is responsible for meeting our live poultry processing commitments for both headcount and kilograms through participation in the development of the Poultry procurement plans This role will be primarily responsible for the Turkey Procurement Plan while working closely with our contracted farmers, 3rd party processors, optimization and other external stakeholders to maximize the execution effectiveness of this plan.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

Long-Term Supply Planning: Updates and maintains the long-term forecast of weekly poultry volume by headcount and flock type. Ability to create and maintain accurate reports.

Short-Term Planning: Responsible for scheduling and confirmation of live haul, catching, and producer loading times as required.

Differentiated/Specialized Program Administration: Responsible for planning differentiated weekly production, as well as ensuring our Program requirements are being followed in the production process.

Producer and Processor Contract Database Management: Responsible for tracking Regrow kilogram usage and commitments to our External farmer partners and processors.

On-Farm Support: Meet with farmers to provide on-farm technical support while enhancing the producer relationship.

Other Duties:

  • Support the entire Poultry Procurement Team Planning Processes
  • Building strong working relationships and daily interactions with producers, operations, field staff, feed partners, optimization, TFO, CFIA, catching, and live haul.
  • Review as required all internal (RWA), TFO and CFIA documentation (i.e. Flock information reporting Form)
  • Accountable for contributing to the delivery of the team’s performance objectives.
  • Special projects as requested.
  • Demonstration and commitment to Maple Leaf’s Leadership Edge Values.
  • Using a Six Sigma approach to drive forward continuous improvement opportunities

What You’ll Bring:

  • Post-secondary education or University Degree in Agriculture, Business, Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience) preferred.
  • 1-3 years working experience.
  • Working knowledge of the poultry procurement functional processes.
  • Strong influencing (Persuasion and Negotiation), assertiveness and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong planning, analytical, decision-making, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • An ability to work independently; be self-motivated and enthusiastic.
  • High level of computer competency including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications – specifically Excel.
